Esther Friedman

Iggy Pop on stage, James Osterberg in private. The photographs of Esther Friedman display both facets of the post-punk icon in pictures from her personal archives between 1977 and 1983. In order to find a way out of his personal and artistic crisis, the Stooges singer retreated in 1976 to Berlin with David Bowie. It was here that Esther Friedman and Iggy became a couple, living together at Hauptstrasse 155 in Berlin-Schöneberg. Over the following seven years of their life together, Friedman intimately documented their everyday life, the tours, the performances and the travels. From Berlin to Los Angeles, Wales to Haiti, and Kenya to New York.

Esther Friedman currently lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.
